Hard to tell from the audio track, but “game” is in quotes here. Before I got into Second Life, I, too, made the mistake of thinking of it as a “game”. I agree completely that SL does not meet the technical definition of a game in any way, but many who are in SL still refer to it as a game, probably because of its superficial resemblance to many computer games. — Bill Friis

    Knowclue,
This is awesome – so many people from the ‘hood, and so many (recent, but fond) memories already.

Thanks for this excellent video. Loved the people stories but a little confused as to why Bill F. refers to SL as a game? I know many who have heard of SL who think that.

Once people register & become residents they quickly realize that SL is a 3D virtual environment. There are some games in SL but SL itself is not a game. Most educators I know of in SL have to spend time explaining that to folks. Again, great job on the video and all ISTE is doing in SL.

Very interesting video. SL is the perfect place to explore the possibilities of virtual worlds as educational tools.
